Crunchy Pea Salad: The Unsung Hero of the Potluck Table
If you’ve ever been to a church picnic, a family reunion, or a backyard BBQ in the Midwest or the South, chances are you’ve run into a bowl of crunchy pea salad. Maybe it was tucked between the potato salad and the coleslaw, a little underrated, but always gone by the end of the party. That’s because crunchy pea salad doesn’t need to be flashy to win hearts—it just needs to show up with that perfect mix of creamy, crispy, salty, and sweet.
A Classic Worth Reviving
Crunchy pea salad might sound old-fashioned—and it kind of is. It’s one of those vintage recipes passed down on handwritten index cards or clipped from old church cookbooks. But guess what? Retro is in, and for good reason. This salad is a refreshing change of pace from the usual side dishes. It’s simple, satisfying, and endlessly customizable.
